Special Olympics We Care Walk-A-Thon Returns to Frankfort

Location: Sunset Memorial Gardens
Details: The Second Annual We Care Walk-A-Thon for Special Olympics returns to the Capitol city on Saturday, May 19. Walkers will take to the one-mile path at Sunset Memorial Gardens on US 60, raising money to support Special Olympics programs in Franklin County and beyond.
Walkers can gather a team or participate on their own and enjoy a beautiful spring stroll on the one-mile walking path. Participants can make up to three laps during the Walk-a-Thon and can collect pledges based on laps walked or simply to support their efforts. Each participant must have at least $20 in pledges to make the walk, and all walkers who raise at least $75 will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Best Buy Gift Card.
Participants can sign up on line at soky.kintera.org/2012wecarewalk, create their own Web page, and raise money via e-mail through secure, on-line donations. Event brochures can also be picked up at Wayne's Pharmacy, Farmers Bank locations, Community Trust Bank or the Froggy 104.9 studios, all in Frankfort.
The We Care Walk-A-Thon gets under way with on-site registration at 9:00 am on May 14 and the walk will start at 10.
All proceeds go to support Special Olympics programs in Franklin County and throughout the state.
